Croatia Airlines Welcomes First Airbus A220, Marking a New Chapter in Fleet Renewal

Zagreb, Croatia — Croatia Airlines has officially taken delivery of its first Airbus A220, a landmark moment in the flag carrier’s modernization program. The arrival of the new aircraft signals the beginning of a fresh era for the airline as it works to enhance efficiency, passenger comfort, and sustainability across its network.

The Airbus A220, known for its fuel efficiency and advanced design, will gradually replace Croatia Airlines’ older fleet of Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft. The airline has committed to a significant fleet renewal plan, which includes up to 15 A220s to be delivered in the coming years.

“We are proud to welcome the Airbus A220 to our fleet,” said Jasmin Bajić, CEO of Croatia Airlines. “This aircraft represents the future of our airline—offering lower operating costs, reduced environmental impact, and an improved travel experience for our passengers. It will also strengthen our competitiveness on regional and European routes.”

The A220 features a modern cabin design, wider seats, larger windows, and quieter engines, offering passengers a more comfortable journey. With its range and versatility, Croatia Airlines will deploy the aircraft on both short-haul and medium-haul routes across Europe.

Industry analysts see this delivery as a significant step in Croatia Airlines’ long-term strategy to position itself as a stronger regional carrier, while also contributing to the country’s growing role in European aviation.

The first commercial flights with the A220 are expected to begin later this year, giving travelers the chance to experience the next-generation jet first-hand.
