Ethiopian Airlines to Launch Direct Mauritius Flights from July 2026
Ethiopian Airlines is set to expand its African network this summer with the introduction of a new direct service between Addis Ababa and Mauritius, further strengthening links between mainland Africa and one of the continent’s most popular island destinations.
The airline announced that it will begin operating three weekly nonstop flights to Mauritius from 12 July 2026. Services will run every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, providing travellers with a more convenient connection between Ethiopia and the Indian Ocean nation.
The new route is expected to boost tourism, trade and business travel while improving access to Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive global network through its Addis Ababa hub.
Speaking on the launch, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said the service will make it easier for African and international visitors to reach Mauritius while supporting economic cooperation and commercial growth between the two countries.
The airline views the route as part of its broader mission to strengthen air connectivity across Africa and enhance links between the continent and key international markets.
Until now, passengers travelling between Addis Ababa and Mauritius often relied on connections through regional gateways such as Johannesburg, Nairobi or Antananarivo. The introduction of direct flights will significantly reduce travel times and provide smoother onward connections to destinations across Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.
Ethiopian Airlines will operate the service using its Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. Flight ET887 is scheduled to depart Addis Ababa at 08:50 and arrive in Port Louis at 15:20, while the return service, ET886, will leave Mauritius at 16:15 and arrive back in Addis Ababa at 20:45.
The launch marks another step in Ethiopian Airlines’ ongoing network expansion strategy and reinforces its position as one of Africa’s leading carriers connecting destinations across the continent and beyond.
