SWISS Flight Diverts to Maine After Smoke Detected in Business Class Cabin
A SWISS International Air Lines flight bound for New York was forced to make an emergency diversion after smoke was detected in the aircraft’s Business Class cabin during a transatlantic journey.
The Airbus A330, operating from Zurich Airport (ZRH) to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), declared an emergency and diverted to Bangor International Airport (BGR) in Maine, where it landed safely.
The aircraft was carrying 208 passengers, and airline officials confirmed that no injuries were reported. Emergency services met the aircraft upon arrival as crews investigated the source of the smoke.
