KLM Suspends Entebbe Flights Amid Ebola-Related Restrictions

Dutch carrier KLM has temporarily cancelled all flights to and from Entebbe International Airport following the introduction of restrictions linked to an Ebola outbreak affecting parts of Central Africa.

The airline confirmed late Friday that operations to Uganda’s main international gateway have been suspended as authorities implement measures aimed at preventing the spread of the virus. The decision impacts both arriving and departing services at the airport, located near the Ugandan capital, Kampala.

KLM stated that the suspension is a precautionary measure and that it is closely monitoring developments in coordination with health authorities and aviation regulators. The carrier added that passenger and crew safety remains its highest priority.

The move highlights the aviation industry’s sensitivity to public health emergencies, with airlines often adjusting schedules and routes when outbreaks pose operational or safety concerns. Travelers affected by the cancellations are advised to contact KLM for rebooking options and the latest travel guidance.

It remains unclear how long the restrictions will remain in place, as health officials continue efforts to contain the outbreak and assess the situation across the region.

The suspension marks another reminder of how health crises can quickly impact international air travel, forcing airlines to make difficult operational decisions while balancing connectivity and passenger safety.

  1. Hello, it’s surprising even flights have been cancelled! It is clear the world is on tension but over here on ground as a Ugandan we are travelling and walking freely and steadily doing business as usual. Thanks
