Vietnam Airlines Eyes Airbus A350s or Boeing 787s for Long-Haul Growth

Vietnam Airlines is weighing options to bolster its long-haul fleet, with plans to acquire additional widebody aircraft as travel demand continues to rise. The carrier is considering both the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 families, already cornerstones of its current long-haul operations.

Industry sources indicate the airline aims to secure deliveries in the second half of the decade to support growth on intercontinental routes and replace older aircraft. Vietnam Airlines already operates both types, making fleet commonality a strategic factor in its evaluation.

The potential order underscores the flag carrier’s confidence in long-term international recovery and its ambition to strengthen Vietnam’s position as a regional aviation hub.
