Lufthansa Expands South Africa–Europe Flights for 2026/27 Winter Season
Travellers between South Africa and Europe are set to benefit from a major expansion by Lufthansa Group as the airline boosts its long-haul schedule for the 2026/27 winter season.
The airline will operate its strongest-ever South African winter timetable, offering 38 weekly flights between South Africa and Europe, including three additional long-haul services.
Johannesburg gets more flights to Munich
The Lufthansa connection between Johannesburg and Munich will increase from three to five weekly flights. From 27 October 2026, the route will operate as an evening departure in both directions, allowing passengers to arrive in Europe early and connect more easily across Lufthansa’s network.
The route will be operated by the modern Airbus A350-900.
Cape Town receives more capacity
The Cape Town–Frankfurt route will gain an extra Monday service, making it a daily connection during the peak winter season.
Passengers will experience Lufthansa’s latest Allegris cabin, featuring upgraded Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy cabins with new designs, improved comfort and advanced technology.
The second Cape Town connection from Munich will also continue as a daily A350 service featuring the Allegris cabin.
With more flights, better schedules and upgraded cabins, Lufthansa is strengthening its position as a key link between South Africa and Europe.
