Turkish Airlines Expands Global Reach with New 2026 Routes Connecting the UK, Spain, Romania, Guinea-Bissau, Australia, and Cambodia

Istanbul, October 30, 2025 — Turkish Airlines has announced an ambitious global expansion plan for 2026, adding new destinations across Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania as part of its strategy to strengthen Istanbul’s position as a global aviation hub.

Starting next year, the flag carrier will introduce new routes linking the United Kingdom, Spain, Romania, Guinea-Bissau, Australia, and Cambodia, bringing an unprecedented level of connectivity between continents. The expansion highlights Turkish Airlines’ continued growth trajectory and its commitment to serving as a bridge between East and West.

According to the airline, the new destinations are expected to enhance both business and tourism travel, offering passengers more seamless options through Istanbul Airport — already one of the busiest transit points in the world.

“Our goal is to bring more of the world together through Istanbul,” said Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of Turkish Airlines. “With these new routes, we are connecting people, economies, and cultures in ways that strengthen our role as a truly global carrier.”

The 2026 network expansion will see new direct services to Canberra and Phnom Penh, as well as additional European routes to Manchester, Madrid, and Bucharest, and a long-awaited African connection to Bissau, the capital of Guinea-Bissau.

Aviation analysts say this move positions Turkish Airlines to compete more aggressively with major global carriers such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Lufthansa, especially in long-haul and connecting markets.

With over 340 destinations already on its map, Turkish Airlines continues to edge closer to its goal of becoming the world’s most connected airline — a vision it has steadily pursued through strategic fleet expansion and partnerships with international tourism boards.
