Turkish Airlines Confirms Major Fleet Expansion With Boeing Orders

Turkish Airlines has announced plans for one of the largest fleet expansions in its history, revealing an order for up to 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliners while also moving closer to finalizing a deal for 150 Boeing 737 Max aircraft.

The new widebody and narrowbody jets will support the carrier’s ambitious growth strategy, expanding both its long-haul and regional operations. The 787 order, which includes firm commitments and options, will strengthen Turkish Airlines’ intercontinental network, particularly in North America and Asia.

At the same time, the potential 737 Max deal is expected to replace older aircraft and boost efficiency across its European, Middle Eastern, and domestic services. If completed, the Max agreement would mark one of the largest single-aisle aircraft purchases in the region.

Chairman Ahmet Bolat said the orders reflect the airline’s confidence in global travel demand and its ambition to position Istanbul as a leading international hub. “With these aircraft, we are investing in the future of aviation and in connecting more people, more cities, and more economies,” he said.

The deals further underscore Turkish Airlines’ role as one of Boeing’s largest customers, while also signaling intensifying competition with Gulf carriers and European rivals as global air travel continues its strong recovery.
