Singapore Airlines Boeing 737 MAX Incident Closes Kuala Lumpur Runway
A Singapore Airlines Boeing 737-8 MAX was involved in a landing incident at Kuala Lumpur International Airport after suffering a double tyre burst on arrival from Singapore.
Flight SQ114 touched down at approximately 1:27 pm on Saturday, June 13, with both tyres on the aircraft’s left main landing gear deflated. The aircraft was able to come to a safe stop, and all 147 passengers and eight crew members were evacuated without injury.
The incident resulted in the temporary closure of one of Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s runways as airport crews worked to remove the aircraft and carry out safety inspections.
Operations resumed later that evening after the runway was cleared and declared safe for use.
Singapore Airlines and airport authorities are expected to conduct further investigations into the cause of the tyre failure.
The Boeing 737-8 MAX remains one of the most widely used aircraft in the world, with airlines relying on the type for short- and medium-haul operations due to its efficiency and range.
